The Kansas City Chiefs are planning to activate wide receiver Hollywood Brown, barring any unexpected setbacks in his recovery. Brown has been sidelined with an injury, but the team is optimistic he will be able to return to the lineup soon.
Sources informed ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Thursday that the Chiefs plan to activate wide receiver Hollywood Brown from injured reserve and have him participate in Saturday's game against the Houston Texans, provided he does not experience any setbacks.
Brown has been out of action since sustaining a sternoclavicular injury on the first play of the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After undergoing surgery, he went through rehabilitation and returned to practice for the first time last week.
Earlier this week, the Chiefs created a spot on their roster for Brown by releasing running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Keep reading....
49ers RB Isaac Guerendo likely out against Dolphins
According to a source who spoke with ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday, San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo is struggling with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Guerendo has moved to the top of the 49ers' depth chart at running back, a position that has been severely affected by injuries this season. Both Christian McCaffrey, Jordan Mason, and Elijah Mitchell have experienced season-ending injuries.
The remaining running backs on the 49ers' 53-man roster include Patrick Taylor Jr. and Israel Abanikanda. This season, Guerendo has accumulated 381 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns.
The 49ers are expected to be without left tackle Trent Williams again on Sunday. Williams has been unavailable for the last four games due to an ankle injury, and coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned on Wednesday that it's "getting closer" to the point where the three-time All-Pro may be out for the remainder of the season. Chiefs' Harrison Butker Stands by His Beliefs without Regrets
Speaking at the Courage Under Fire gala hosted by Regina Caeli Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker expressed his unwavering stance on sharing his beliefs in a recent commencement speech. The 28-year-old athlete affirmed that he has no regrets about his actions, acknowledging the presence of both supportive individuals and an unexpectedly high level of hostility from others.
After delivering a controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he shared his perspective on women's aspirations, criticized certain Catholic leaders for promoting what he deemed as potentially harmful gender ideologies, indirectly referenced Pride month, and voiced his opposition to President Joe Biden's policies, including the Supreme Court's reversal of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, he recently made his first public comments on the matter.
"It is now, over the past few days, my beliefs or what people think I believe have been the focus of countless discussions around the globe," Butker said Friday. "At the outset, many people expressed a shocking level of hate. But as the days went on, even those who disagreed with my viewpoints shared their support for my freedom of religion."
Acknowledging that he is no stranger to criticism for his on-field performance, Harrison Butker, a three-time Super Bowl champion, expressed that he prioritizes his religion over football. "It's a decision I've consciously made and one I do not regret at all," he said.
The NFL has distanced itself from Harrison Butker's comments, stating that they do not reflect the views of the organization. Despite not always agreeing with Butker, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes acknowledges his teammate's right to hold his own beliefs. On his "New Heights" podcast, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce expressed his appreciation for Butker as a teammate. While Kelce may not agree with the majority of Butker's views, except for his love for his family and children, he believes that he should not judge Butker based on his religious beliefs or views on life as it goes against his own principles.
Analyzing the Best and Worst Picks of the 2023 NFL Draft: Which Teams Scored Big?
The 2023 NFL Draft has come and gone, and it's time to evaluate the top picks and misses from one of the most anticipated events on the football calendar.
At the top of the draft, the quarterback class was once again the focus, with 3️ of the first 4️ picks being quarterbacks. Analysts were generally high on the quarterbacks in this draft, with experts projecting that many of them will become starters at some point down the line.
But the draft wasn't all about quarterbacks. Many teams filled important needs, making trades and selecting players that will likely play important roles on their teams in the future. Strong prospects from every position group were drafted, including some players that were considered to be steals in later rounds.
Of course, not every pick was a home run. Some teams reached for players or failed to address their primary needs, leaving many analysts scratching their heads. Disappointing picks in the early rounds can have serious consequences for a team's future, despite the talent available in later rounds.
